CertainTeed Snap On Pipe Insulation

Pipe Insulation | Duct Insulation | Boiler Tank Insulation

Description

CertainTeed Standard Snap On Pipe Insulation is a preformed cylindrical pipe insulation composed of glass fibers, bonded together with a thermosetting resin. it is formed into 3' long sections with a single seam that opens to receive the pipe and snaps closed after it is in place. Snap On is available in four different types:

Snap on Unjacketed- for use in applications which require field jacketing or as the first layer in double layer installations

Snap On with ASJ (All Service Jacket)- ASJ is a factory-applied vapor retarder composed of white kraft paper and aluminum foil laminate with the whit kraft facing out.

Sanp On with ASJ (ALL Service Jacket) and CertaBlue Bond SSL (Self Sealing Lap) CertaBlue Bond seals the longitudinal overlap and butt joint strips.

Nap On is also available with optional AWJ (All Weather Jacket) AWJ is a factory applied weather resistant jacket composed of Hypalon and gray Tedlar film reinforced with fiber glass fabric.

All jacketed Snap On is supplied with butt joint strips of the same jacket material. The result is an attractively finished insulation job with insulation and protective jacket applied in one step.

Uses:

Snap on is intended for hot and cold service piping from -20 degrees F to 850 degrees F. Typical piping uses include: Domestic Hot and Cold Water
Heating Hot Water
High Temperature
Dual Temperature
Steam and Condensate
Tempered Water
Booster Heater Water
Refrigerated
Power
Process
Industrial

Unjacketed Snap On may be used for outdoor hot lines while Snap On with ASJ or ASJ/SSL may be used for outdoor hot and cold lines. Each may require the addition of a suitable, separate weatherproofing system. Sanp On with AWJ may be used either on hot or cold lines indoors or outdoors without additional weatherproofing.

Sizes and Thicknesses
Snap On is produced in 3 foot long cylindrical sections for iron pipe sizes from .5" to 36" ID and copper tubing sizes from .5" to 6" ID. Single wall nominal thicknesses range from .5" to 5" in .5" increments. Single wall 6" thickness is available by request on some sizes.

Benefits

Long Service Life
The combination of glass fibers with thermosetting resin provides excellent dimensional stability. Both ASJ and AWJ jackets provide protection from normal in-service abuse and prevent water from easily penetrating the insulation which could impair its performance and shorten its service life.
Lower Installed Costs
One piece construction is easy to apply, fabricate and handle, resulting in lower installation costs. Insulation and integral jackets do not break or crack under normal shipping, storage and installation.
Low operating costs
Excellent thermal conductivity values over the applicable range of service temperatures lowers heat losses and reduces energy costs. Snap On can save up to 20% more energy than calcium silicate pip insulation in equal thicknesses at 300 degrees F mean temperature.
Low fire hazard classification
Meets fire and safety requirements of building codes and government guide specifications
Jackets give neat, functional appearance
ASJ jacket with or without SSL, is an efficient vapor retarder which also provides a clean, white finished appearance. No painting is required, but clean ASJ jacket eliminates the need for field application of weatherproofing jacketing. It is flexible, abuse resistant and will not reflect harsh light. AWJ jacket requires no painting and is easily washable.
